LE BOBO – stylish and unique Guest House & Gîte in Bize Minervois
Our guest house is located in the centre of the village of Bize-Minervois – one of the prettiest villages in the South of France, with it’s ancient ‘centre historique,’ cobbled streets, and the crystal clear River Cesse, ideal for swimming on hot summer days, all back-dropped by the enchanting forested Pech.
The interior reflects its name, meaning the ‘Bourgeois and Bohemian’. This maison de maître gives you the feeling of being in a ‘petit chateau’ with it’s 12th century rampart walls, wide hallway and landings, high ceilings, original tiled floors and shutters. It was the first house to be built to the outside of the rampart walls in the 17th century.
The house keeps beautifully cool in the summer due to its thick stone walls, tiled floors, high ceilings, and shutters. Bedrooms also feature ceiling fans for added comfort, quality mattresses, cotton sheets, duck down pillows, and duck down quilts for the winter months.
Bize is situated on the Aude / Herault border in Languedoc Roussillon, and is just 5 minutes drive from the Canal du Midi. The village is well equipped with various restaurants, bars, and shops, a small weekly market, several wine tasting caves, walking and cycling trails on your doorstep, horse riding, a goat farm and a world famous olive factory.
The Minervois is a wine growing region known for its stunning landscapes, vineyards, and beautiful villages – many of which are classed as ‘Les Plus Beaux’, meaning the most beautiful villages in France.
This area is an epicentre of things to see and do. You have many beautiful villages to explore, the Canal du Midi, beaches within 35 minutes, wine tasting, the historic cities of Carcassonne, Narbonne, Beziers, Montpellier, Perpignan and Nimes, and the Cathar castles. A little further afield the Black Mountains, Mirepoix, Foix and Limoux (famous for Blanquette de Limoux, believed to be the world’s first sparkling wine), then Spain and the Pyrenean ski/randonnées resorts.
Spa and massage treatments, bike hire, horse riding, canal cruises and wine tasting, can be arranged subject to availability.
