River beach swimming in the summer
Here are a few photos of our river beach in Bize-Minvervois. The river is La Cesse river, which runs through the village and it is only 50 metres from our property Le Bobo. It is a stunning crystal clear river and a dam has been created in the centre of the village to form a natural swimming pool. It is very popular with locals and tourists as it is a truly stunning place to relax and while away the hours sunbathing and swimming. You can have a drink at the bar maybe sample one of the local wines, have an ice-cream at Café du Midi, or take a spot of lunch at one of the nearby restaurants which are just in walking distance – Café du Midi, Appaloosa, La Grange, or further afield La Sallette. There are several lovely spots up and down the river also with weirs, little waterfalls, whirl pools and white rock pool formations. I love to take long walks along it and sometimes if I am feeling more energetic a lovely bike ride.
Every time I come into the village and drive or walk over the little bridge that crosses the river, the scenery doesn’t fail to amaze me. It is so breathtakingly beautiful no matter what time of year.I have to pinch myself to believe I actually live here sometimes! The sight of the river’s natural pool back-dropped by the pine covered hills and pretty little stone houses, is a real sight to behold.
